According to the latest weather forecast, weather conditions will be fortunate for fireworks and bonfires on New Year’s Eve all around Iceland, except possibly in the Westman Islands where stormy conditions are expected.
The Icelandic Meteorological Office is forecasting snowfall or sleet and a slow wind from the east in south Iceland at noon on December 31, but reduced snowfall at midnight, and no precipitation in north and east Iceland.
Most families in Iceland purchase fireworks from their local search and rescue service to blow up at midnight on New Year’s Eve and earlier in the day people often attend bonfires.
