Good Weather, Bad Weather in Iceland

The weather in Reykjavík today is perfect, clear skies, no wind and 2°C (36°F).

Meanwhile, the weather in the West Fjords, North Iceland, and in Southeast Iceland is bad and not suitable for traveling. Steingrímsfjarðarheiði mountain pass, the main road to Ísafjörður, is closed due to heavy snow.

Þverárfjall, mountain pass to Sauðárkrókur is closed, and the towns of Siglufjörður and Ólafsfjörður have been cut off with roads closed due to snow and avalanche danger.

The road to Seyðisfjörður, East Iceland, from where the ferry to mainland Europe departs, is closed.

The road connection between North and East Iceland, the Ring Road One, is closed, and the town of Vopnafjörður, Northeast Iceland, is also cut off.

In Southeast Iceland there is little visibility at Skeiðarársandur, and a sandstorm has formed near Kirkjubæjarklaustur.

But the weather in the capital is perfect.
