Good Templars Donate ISK Millions to Hospital

The International Organization of Good Templars (IOGT) in Akureyri donated ISK 50 million (USD 768,000, EUR 519,000) to FSA, the local hospital, yesterday for purchasing equipment for diagnosing and treating cardio diseases.

Jón Thór Sverrisson, chief physician at FSA’s medical ward, said the gift will be sufficient for purchasing equipment for treating cardio diseases for a few years, Morgunbladid reports.

The Good Templars in Akureyri have sold their company and local headquarters and intend to use part of the profits to renovate the house Fridbjarnarhús on Adalstraeti, in one of the town’s oldest neighborhoods, where the IOGT in Iceland was founded.

The Good Templars plan to turn the house into a museum about their work.
