The roughly 10,000 ticket holders to tomorrow evening’s Euro 2016 qualifier match between Iceland and the Czech Republic have reason to be optimistic about the weather. Czech players are especially pleased to hear this.
The weather for the game, which begins at 18.45 local time in Reykjavík, looks like it will be sunny, with very light breeze and a respectable 10°C.
Several Czech players have mentioned in press interviews that they are worried about the Icelandic weather—especially the potential for high winds. RÚV reports that they need not worry about the wind during this particular match.
The game starts at 18.45 and will be shown live on RÚV, with RÚV 2 starting the warm-up at 18.00 and moving to RÚV from 18.25.
Iceland came to within one match of qualifying for the Brazil world cup last year, but lost to Croatia in the final playoff. As a result, the country has yet to qualify for any men’s world or European football finals.
Iceland is currently second in the six-team Group A and, with five matches to go, in with a very good chance of making it to Euro 2016 in France.
