Between 4,000 and 5,000 people visited the ski resort in Bláfjöll mountains in Iceland’s capital region last weekend. Managing director of the ski resort, Magnús Árnason, said the atmosphere was fantastic.
Skiing conditions are good enough for the area to remain open for the next few days, but Árnason told Morgunbladid that he wouldn’t mind more snow. “So we can make jumping platforms and such for the snowboarders.”
All lifts were open last weekend and a seven-kilometer long track for cross-country skiers was made in Kerlingadalur valley. Cross-country skiers held a tournament yesterday and organized courses.
“Everything was happening, courses in snowboarding and skiing and the atmosphere was great,” Árnason said, adding that people forget about their worries while skiing.
