Global Scavenger Hunt Teams Arrive in Iceland

The participants in the travel adventure competition Global Scavenger Hunt, dubbed as the Amazing Race for real people, will arrive in Iceland today for the last leg of their journey. While in Reykjavík, the teams will experience “the many wonders of Iceland,” a press release describes.

“Iceland is a special place to me,” said William Chalmers, the event director, adding, “My daughter is half Icelandic and the people [are] always wonderful and always gracious to us travelers. Everyone always goes out of their way to help us locate scavenges and learn more about their country. My belief in the global spirit of friendship has been rekindled over the last few days.”

All contestants will be staying at Hótel Borg in Reykjavík during their one-day stop in Iceland before heading to the finish line in Boston. The Global Scavenger Hunt teams have traveled through Seattle, Taiwan, Cambodia, Thailand, India, Turkey and Tunisia.

By competing in the Global Scavenger Hunt, contestants are raising funds for global charities such as Doctors Without Borders, UNICEF, Free the Children and KIVA.

“The World’s Greatest Travelers” will be crowned in Boston on May 9. The event can be followed online at
