Glitnir Bank appoints new Seafood director

Icelandic investment bank Glitnir announced this week that Bjarni Hjaltason, currently the managing director for shipping company Eimskip in the UK, will assume the role as the new Global Seafood Director for Glitnir Bank.

Hjaltason replaces Helgi Anton Eríksson, who was recently appointed executive vice president for Glitnir Bank’s investment banking division.

“I am very proud to be part of a finance institution that invests in being leading in research on the seafood sector,” Hjaltason said, according to a press release issued by Glitnir Bank this week.

Glitnir Bank serves companies involved in the fish industry on a global basis, offering industry-specific financial services; convenient financing, advice on financial risk and finding the right industrial partner anywhere in the world.

Glitnir Bank employs a team of bankers who specialize in the seafood industry, consisting of corporate financiers, industry analysts, credit officers and experienced dealers.

“To lead this team will be both exciting and challenging,” Hjaltason said.

Bjarni Hjaltason, 36, holds a degree in industrial management from the Icelandic Technical University and currently lives in the UK with his wife and three young daughters.
