Glitnir and KB Bank bidding for Icelandair

By Iceland Review

According to Fréttabladid, the two Icelandic banks Glitnir (formerly Íslandsbanki) with a group of investors on the one hand, and KB Bank on the other, are both vying to acquire Icelandair. The paper’s sources claim that the first offers have already been presented to Icelandair and that they are believed to be in the region of ISK 40 billion (some USD 571 million). Announcements as to whether either of those parties will become new owners of the airline are expected within the next two weeks.
