A mushroom weighing 2.6 kilograms and measuring 33 centimeters in height was found in Borgarfjörður in West Iceland on Friday.

“It must be the biggest mushroom in Iceland,” said Raimundus Valasinavicius on finding the giant fungus, Frettablaðið reports. Valasinavicius has more than thirty years’ experience picking mushrooms.
Mushroom expert from the Institute of Natural History Guðríður Gyða Eyjólfsdóttir commented that the particular kind of mushroom found can grow very big but confirmed that this is likely the largest to be found in the country.
