A giant iceberg has been spotted off the Hornstrandir region in Iceland’s far northwestern corner. The crew on board the TF-Gná Coast Guard helicopter photographed the iceberg yesterday afternoon.
From RÚV.
According to the Coast Guard, the iceberg is at least 70 meters in diameter and lies approximately half a nautical mile from land and appears to be grounded.
The iceberg has attracted a considerable number of birds, ruv.is reports.
From time to time icebergs drift from neighboring Greenland to Iceland, sometimes carrying polar bears with them.
