According to the Icelandic National Broadcasting Service, RÚV, the German building supplies retailer Bauhaus is applying for a lot for its store in Reykjavík.
Dagur Eggertsson, chairman of the Reykjavík Planning Committee, said to Morgunbladid yesterday that he believed that Bauhaus’s application would be approved at the Planning Committee’s meeting to be held yesterday.
According to the daily DV, Bauhaus was recently denied a lot in Kópavogur. A lot which Bauhaus applied for in Gardabær was allocated to BYKO, a local building supplies store.
BYKO is one of Iceland’s two main building supplies stores, it has its headquarters in Kópavogur. BYKO’s CEO, Ásdís Halla Bragadóttir, is the former mayor of Gardabær.
Currently, BYKO’s main competitor is Húsasmidjan which is owned by Baugur.
