German philosopher Marcus Steinweg will hold three lectures in Iceland in relation to the current exhibition “VídeóRísóm” at the Living Art Museum in Reykjavík, featuring video and audio art by Brazilian artist Marcellvs L., which opened last weekend.
The first lecture will take place at the Living Art Museum (Nýlistasafn) tomorrow at 4 pm (note that the time of the event mentioned in the last news story has changed), at the Iceland Academy of the Arts on Monday at 12:30 pm and at the University of Iceland on Thursday at 4 pm.
Marcellvs L.’s connection with philosophy is important to his art creation and in a recent interview he mentioned that his meetings with Steineweg are a source of inspiration.
Steinweg teaches philosophy at the University in Braunschweig. He has published numerous books, held lectures around the world and worked closely with visual artists such as Thomas Hirschhorn and Rosmarie Trockel.
The lectures will be in English, admission is free and all are welcome.
