The German film production company TeamWorx Television & Film GmbH, which belongs to the media company Bertelsmann, has bought the filmmaking rights to all of Icelandic author Yrsa Sigurdardóttir’s crime novels, except for Ashes to Dust, because the rights to that book are held by Icelandic film production company Pegasus.

Teamworks has also bought the filmmaking rights to all of Sigurdardóttir’s future thrillers that feature the lawyer Thóra and the rights to the protagonist herself. The production company is planning a television series centered around that character, ruv.is reports.
The shows will be in German but take place in Iceland, as most of Sigurdardóttir’s books do. Shooting will probably begin on Snaefellsnes peninsula in west Iceland next summer, where the haunting story of My Soul to Take takes place.
Sigurdardóttir’s books have impressed readers all around the world and have been translated to many different languages, including English.
