Gerdarsafn Art Museum Offers Tour of Exhibition

Visual artist Baltasar, along with writer Árni Bergmann, will offer a guided tour of Baltasar’s exhibition “Myths and Symbols and the Seven Words of Christ on the Cross” in Gerdarsafn Art Museum in Kópavogur at 3 pm tomorrow.

The paintings on display were inspired by gods and myths from different cultures, such as Egyptian, Greek-Roman and Norse mythology, Judaism and Christianity. Seven large paintings that are based on the last words of Jesus Christ on the cross are also on display.

Baltsar and Bergmann will discuss these paintings and the history behind them.

Baltasar was named the honorary artist of Kópavogur in 2007. His exhibition opened last week as part of the “Kópavogur Days” and it runs through June 21. Admission is free.
