Gay Pride Reykjavík 2012 Opening Ceremony Tonight

This year’s festival officially kicks off tonight with the opening ceremony at Háskólabíó cinema.

Icelandic and international artists, including BETTY from the United States, will perform in concert. Admission is ISK 2,000.

Tomorrow, the Queer Literary Walk, a guided tour in English through the center of Reykjavík, will start at Ingólfstorg at 5 pm.

At 8:30 pm, Iceland’s diva of jazz, Kristjana Stefánsdóttir, performs songs by various composers at Harpa.

At 10 pm, the annual Queer Cruise sets off from Reykjavík harbor.

On Saturday, the Gay Pride Parade begins from Vatnsmýrarvegur (near BSÍ bus terminal) at midday. The parade continues down Sóleyjargata, Fríkirkjuvegur and Lækjargata to Arnarhóll.

At 3:30 pm, an outdoor concert will be held at Arnarhóll. Various Icelandic and international entertainers will perform, including Páll Óskar.

On Sunday, the Rainbow Family Festival on Viðey Island will be held. The ferry starts sailing at 11:15 am.
