Game of Thrones stars Kit Harington and Emilie Clarke arrived in Iceland last Sunday, Winter Is Coming reports. It is believed that the actors, who portray Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen, are in Iceland for the filming of Season 8 of Game of Thrones. A Game of Thrones hairstylist had previously arrived in Iceland, as the film crew gathers in the country.
The filming is reported to take place this upcoming February, and Season 8 will be six episodes in total. The shooting of Game of Thrones has previously taken place in Iceland for series 2, 3, 4, and 7. Filming for Game of Thrones has previously taken place in Northern Ireland, Croatia, Malta, and Morocco, among others.
It is currently not confirmed where the filming will take place, but previous film locations have included Snæfellsjökull, Mývatn, Grjótagjá, Reynisfjara, and Jökulsárlón, among others. The crew working on set is reported to be mainly comprised of Icelanders, with some fulfilling roles in the show. Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson has previously portrayed the Mountain in the series, while members of Of Monsters and Men and Sigur Rós have also been extras on the show.
