According to the two most recent opinion polls conducted by Capacent Gallup, support has increased for the Progressive Party (Framsóknarflokkurinn) up to 13.6 percent and the party could remain in the government along with the Independence Party (Sjálsfstaedisflokkurinn).
The Independence Party was supported by 35.8 percent of participants, close to its result from the last Gallup poll. According to the new poll the two parties would have 32 MPs in total, a slight majority in parliament, Morgunbladid reports.
The Social Democratic Alliance (Samfylkingin), which had begun to lose support, is on its way up again with support from 26.1 percent of the participants in the poll.
The Left-Green Movement (Vinstri graenir) is also on its way up again, after a recent drop, with support from 15.9 percent of participants.
The Liberal Party (Frjálslyndi flokkurinn) remains at 6.5 percent, unchanged from the last Gallup poll, while the Icelandic Movement (Íslandshreyfingin) dropped even further down to 2.0 percent.
Gallup approached 1,097 voters via telephone on May 8 and 9 with 64.2 percent of respondents participating. The elections are tomorrow.
