Gallery Ágúst Opens First Exhibition in 2008

Art Gallery Ágúst in Reykjavík is celebrating the eve of a new year with the “adventure-like” solo exhibition of paintings by Davíd Örn Halldórsson, “absalút gamall kastale,” which opened last weekend.

The artist is known for using bold colors from unorthodox material for his work, including car enamel, oil pastels and paint from spray cans.

Halldórsson often paints on natural canvases he finds like wooden boards though he also paints directly onto walls, like in his current exhibition at Gallery Ágúst.

Artwork by Halldórsson was displayed around the world last year, in Salzburg, New York and Moscow, where a huge wall painting of his was installed at the Rozamira art festival.

“Absalút gamall kastale” is on until February 23 and Gallery Ágúst is open Wednesday to Saturdays between 12 noon and 5 pm.
