British actor Stephen Fry and Danish-American actor Viggo Mortensen have agreed to participate in an initiative to promote Iceland as a travel destination to counteract negative coverage of the volcanic eruption in the international media.

An interview with Mortensen has been posted on the website inspiredbyiceland.com and Fry tweeted about Icelanders through a twitter site of the same name, Fréttabladid reports.
The project is part of an ISK 700 million (USD 5.4 million, EUR 4.4 million) marketing initiative launched by Icelandic tourism companies and the government of Iceland.
Advertisements will be published in widely in European media outlets and the plan is to have other world-famous celebrities participate in the project.
