Friðrik Þór’s Horizon Premieres

Horizon (Sjóndeildarhringur), a documentary about the painter Georg Guðni Hauksson, premieres at the Bíó Paradís cinema tomorrow night at 6 pm. The film is directed by Oscar-nominated director Friðrik Þór Friðriksson and co-director Bergur Bernburg.

Georg Guðni was an influential Icelandic landscape painter who died in 2011 at the age of 50. The film is in English with Icelandic subtitles.

Although Guðni followed the modern painting techniques of the early 1980s, he secretly painted landscape scenes, using a modern approach. The film focuses on Icelandic landscape and its emotional and spiritual impact on the artist.

Horizon premieres internationally September 13 at the Toronto International Film Festival.
