Brass band Hnúkatheyr will hold a concert in Kjarvalsstadir Art Museum in Reykjavík at 5 pm tomorrow, playing the music of three French composers, who all took a keen interest in wind instruments as reflected in the compositions.
Hnúkatheyr will play two pieces by Jean Français, “9 Pièces Caractéristiques” and “Sept danses,” “Octanphonie” by Eugène Bozza and “Trois pièces brèves” by Jacques Ibert. Alliance Francaise will offer light refeshments after the concert.
The brass band was founded in 2003 and has since performed regularly in Reykjavík and outside the caipital region. The band’s latest perfomance was during the “Myrkir músíkdagar” (“Dark Music Days”) festival where it premiered two new Icelandic compositions.
Admission to tomorrow’s concert is free for children and young adults, 21 and younger, and ISK 500 (USD 3.5, EUR 2.8) for adults. The moderate price is meant to encourage people to enjoy themselves in spite of the gloomy economic outlook in Iceland.
