The annual French Film Festival kicks off in Reykjavík today and will run through February 9. It is a popular event on the Icelandic cultural calendar; the number of visitors amounts to 10,000 each year.
The selection of films is greater than ever, as stated on midi.is, including the critically acclaimed Golden Globe winner The Artist, which boasts ten Oscar nominations.
Four of the ten films that will be screened during the festival are directed by women, who are considered to have had an impact on the renaissance of the French film industry.
The festival is organized by Græna ljósið, Institute français, Alliance français and the Embassies of France and Canada in Iceland.
