The tour will be guided by mushroom picking enthusiast Ása Margrét Ásgrímsdóttir, who recently released the book Matsveppir í náttúru Íslands, a guide to edible mushrooms in Icelandic nature, containing instructions on how they should be cleaned and prepared.
The tour begins at the Furulundur grove, which is marked on this map of Heidmörk. In a press release from the Reykjavík Forestation Association, participants are encouraged to show up on time and bring baskets and good knives. No fee is charged.
