Fourteen Flights to Football Game

By Iceland Review

Fourteen flights are scheduled between Iceland and Paris tomorrow, between the hours of 6:20 am and 11 pm, according to RÚV.

You guessed it. It has something to do with football. Altogether 8,000 Icelanders plan to attend Sunday’s game between Iceland and France in the EURO 2016 quarter-finals at the Stade de France in Paris at 7 pm Icelandic time, 9 pm local time.

With 8,000 Icelandic fans in the stands, “Áfram Ísland” (“Go Iceland”) will no doubt be heard throughout the stadium, which seats over 81,000 people.

For those of us who can’t make it to France, we’ll have an opportunity to strain our vocal cords in downtown Reykjavík, where a screen the size of 36 square meters (388 square ft) has been installed.

Lækjargata, the main street downtown, will be closed all day Sunday. Restrooms will be installed for the event and wheelchair access improved.
