Four Saved from a Burning House in Akureyri

The Akureyri Fire department saved four lives this morning when a father and three of his children were saved from the third floor of a burning house at Fjólugata. The fire came up on the second floor and the firemen were there within three minutes of being notified by residents on the second floor who manageed to get out on their own.

The children, aged two, three and nine, were all asleep when the firemen arrived. Two were taken to safety by firemen and the father took the third one. All four were taken to the hospital for assistance.

According to RÚV the fire was put out within an hour. It is thought to have originated in the kitchen on the second floor.
