Four men in a pickup drove up to him and his friend. The men stepped out of the car and the one carrying the ax rushed at one of the pedestrians, Morgunbladid reports.
The local police sought assistance from the National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police’s special forces and the perpetrators were all caught within an hour. Two of them were found in Selfoss and the other two in the neighboring Eyrarbakki.
They were all released on Sunday and the case is considered closed. The reason for the attack was an unsettled debt between the man with the ax and the victim.
