Most of the 394 horses registered are from Germany with 25 coming from other countries including Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria and the Netherlands, mbl.is reports.

The organizers have received a special permit allowing the ride to take place through the historic gate.

The event, which is expected to raise awareness of the breed worldwide, will take place on the first day of the competition, Sunday August 4.
