One bus rolled over on Ring Road one, by Pétursey (west of Vík í Mýrdal) in South Iceland just before noon, and three other buses skidded off the road in that area. No one was injured. Rescue workers in South Iceland were called out to assist the passengers.
The weather has already deteriorated in this area, and driving conditions are poor, with icy roads, snowfall and strong winds.
ICE-SAR emphasizes that this is no weather for travel in the area, and reminds tourists that severe weather is forecast for the east and northeast today.
The Ring Road is closed in South Iceland between Lómagnúpur in the west and Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon in the east.
