Fostering Horses Popular among Children

Íshestar Riding Tours are offering popular courses for children this summer called “Foster a Horse”. The courses are designed to provide children with an insight into horse keeping by “fostering” a particular horse and caring for it throughout the summer.

“To have a friend in a sweet-natured horse is the best thing that can happen to a child,” Silja Ólöf Birgisdóttir at Íshestar told Fréttabladid. “Great friendship is forged between a child and a horse and the moment of farewell when the course is over is filled with sorrow.”

The 12-week course involves that children come to the stables and care for the horses they have fostered, feed them, comb their coats, clean the stable by removing horse droppings and take their companions for a ride.
