Forty Percent Increase in British Tourists to Iceland

Tourists to Iceland in October made up one quarter of the total number of 53,000, an increase of 800, according to the latest figures from the Icelandic Tourist Board. British tourists increased by 40 percent since last year.

Americans were the second largest group by nationality. Visitors from North America increased by 25 percent.

Around 700,000 tourists have visited Iceland so far this year, up 111,000 on the same period in 2012, an increase of 19 percent.

The number of visitors from the Nordic countries increased the least, or by three percent.
