More than 40 percent of respondents in a nation-wide poll conducted by Capacent Gallup are satisfied with the work of Mayor of Reykjavík Jón Gnarr, a comedian whose party received the most votes in the municipal elections last spring.
Approximately 42 percent of respondents said they were neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with Gnarr’s work but almost 17 percent of respondents said they were dissatisfied with his work, Morgunbladid reports.
More men than women are dissatisfied with Gnarr, as are more residents of the capital region than those who live in other parts of the country.
Younger people are generally more satisfied with Gnarr than older people and those who support the Social Democrat-Left-Green coalition in Iceland’s government more often support the new mayor than those who oppose the coalition.
