Fortitude Keeps Residents in Dark

Filming of the second season of the British psychological thriller Fortitude will begin in Reyðarfjörður, East Iceland, tomorrow, and continue through the end of the month. The town has slowly been taking on the look of the fictional Norwegian settlement of Fortitude in Svalbard. Signs have been removed from buildings and replaced by new ones.

Residents are kept in the dark in two different ways: They have no knowledge about the plot of the episodes about to be filmed and have been requested to turn off their lights as well.

In a letter from the film production company Pegasus, residents are requested to turn off all outside lights tomorrow, including Christmas lights, between the hours of 4:30 pm and 8 pm. In a certain part of town, they are asked to turn off lights close to windows as well. Traffic will be limited tomorrow, and several streets will be closed.

The company apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks residents for their positive attitude and helpfulness so far.

Among the actors will be Dennis Quaid, Michelle Fairley, Sofie Gråbøl and Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, according to Vísir.
