Former Footballer Gets Salary Paid Fourteen Years Late

Former football player Sigurður Ragnar Eyjólfsson has been paid for his time at Belgian club Harelbeke 14 years ago. Sigurður played for the team during the 2000/2001 season but the club fell into financial crisis and Sigurður was not paid for his seven months there. He sued the club, and now, 14 years later, he has managed to settle the matter, Morgunblaðið reports.

After his period at Harelbeke, he played for KR Reykjavík from 2002 to 2006, and from 2007 to 2014 he was the coach of the Icelandic national team in women’s football. This season, he took over as coach of the first division football club ÍBV Vestmannaeyjar.
