Foreign Ministry Responds to Criticism

Iceland’s Foreign Ministry handed over documents to the National Audit Office yesterday about water damage to apartments in the former US Naval Air Station in Keflavík after being accused of delaying the process.

“We had held many meeting with the National Audit Office in relation to this matter and handed over documents,” Permanent Secretary of State Grétar Már Sigurdsson told Fréttabladid. “We hadn’t finished one final report, […] which was delayed because of a heavy work load.”

Former Foreign Minister Valgerdur Sverrisdóttir, who requested a debit from the National Audit Office in November last year, told Fréttabladid that the Foreign Ministry had performed “poorly.”
