Icelandic Broadcasting System, RÚV, reports that 68 foreign medical doctors applied for a license to practice in Iceland in 2004 and 2005. 54 have been granted a license to practice and another 14 are under review.
There are no agreements in effect between Iceland and the countries of the European Economic Area concerning the transfer of medical licenses between countries, and each application has to be examined on its own merits, reported RÚV.
