Forecast for Iceland World Cup Playoff still Frosty

Spanish referee Alberto Unidiano Mallenco, who will referee the first World Cup playoff between Iceland and Croatia at Laugardalsvöllur football stadium in Reykjavík on Friday, will arrive one day earlier than planned to determine whether the field is playable, mbl.is reports.

Mallenco will be accompanied by Stadia inspector at UEFA Mark Blackbourne from England.

The forecast for Friday is 0°C (32°F) and sleet while the forecast for the game in Zagreb, four days later, is 7°C (45°F).

The Friday game will be broadcast live to at least 18 nations, including Australia, China, Sweden and Japan.
