The Icelandic men’s national football team will receive a warm welcome home in downtown Reykjavík tonight when the athletes return from the EURO 2016 in France, RÚV reports. After exceeding all expectations by making it to the quarter-finals, they lost to France 5-2 last night in Paris.
A welcome home celebration is planned at Arnarhóll, where “our boys,” as they’re commonly called, are expected to arrive between 7 and 8 pm. Festivities begin at 6:30 pm and will be broadcast live on RÚV and Síminn TV.
The organizers of the event expect a large attendance. The program will be announced later today.
