Food and Fun in Iceland

The sixth annual Food and Fun Festival will take place in Reykjavík from February 21 to 25. The festival includes world-renowned chefs preparing special menus at exclusive Reykjavík restaurants using only Icelandic ingredients.

“Food and Fun is an event which combines outstanding culinary skills, fresh natural ingredients, Icelandic outdoor adventure and the world-famous Reykjavík nightlife to create the ultimate recipe for fun,” as described in event guide What’s On in Reykjavík.

On the last day of the festival the chefs compete to create the best three-course meal. They are given 30 minutes to shop for Icelandic ingredients in a local supermarket and then have three hours to finish their dishes.

The competition is held at the Reykjavík Art Museum, Hafnarhús, and is open to everyone. In the last two years, 20,000 people have come to observe the competition.

The Food and Fun festival is organized by Iceland Naturally, a group of Icelandic seafood, agriculture, water and tourism leaders, Icelandair, Icelandic agriculture and the City of Reykjavík.
