A mentally ill man from Japan tried to apply for Icelandic citizenship this weekend and pointed out that Bobby Fischer had just received one.
According to the Chief of Police at Keflavík Airport his japanese documents were in order but when his luggage was checked he was found to be carrying a stun gun and pepper spray. When asked what he was going to use this for, he replied he would use them to defend himself from wild bears.
It soon became apparent from consequent answers from the man that he was mentally ill, and he was sent to the Landspítali mental ward in Reykjavík, where he was treated before being sent back to Japan where he was received by the authorites.
