Next summer a folklore festival called Baunagrasið (“The Bean Stock”) will be held in Bíldudalur in the West Fjords for the first time. In the evenings there will be concerts and during the day workshops teaching people to write music and lyrics.

The concerts will take place at the local Sea Monster Museum, the restaurant Vegamót, down by the beach, in the mountains surrounding the village and at the local church, according to news website bb.is.
Bíldudalur is said to be the perfect place for the new festival because for 20 years local artists have held a folklore concert in the town between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Baunagrasið is considered a logical next step, to bring folklore music to the masses next summer. The exact dates will be announced later.
