“Flying” Over Iceland Eruption Area

If you are planning to go to see the eruption it is useful to prepare for the trip by studying the area. And even if you are not planning to go there a three dimensional flight over the area gives you an idea of what those thousands are putting themselves through. Remember that the walk takes about five hours from Skógar and about two hours from Thórsmörk.

This morning, when Iceland Review is planning yet another excursion to the volcano, the temperature is -14 degrees and going up to -3 Celcius. So look forward to new photos of the volcano tomorrow.

The wind is rather calm. If you want to see a weather forecast, look here.

A two dimensional map can be found here and a three dimensional map here. This three dimensional map is like a simulated flight. It is worth looking at, even if you are not going anywhere. The maps are from the National Land Survey of Iceland.
