Last year, WOW Air, flew close to 1.7 million passengers, up 130 percent from previous year, Vísir reports. The record increase was last month, when 173,000 passengers flew with the airline, up 207 percent from December 2015.
The soon to be five-year-old airline flew its first flight to Paris on the last day of May, 2012. It will operate seventeen Airbus aircraft next summer, five of them new ones, to 30 destinations on the both sides of the Atlantic.
Icelanders took record 86,200 more trips abroad in 2016 than they did in 2015, and 60 percent of that increase was on WOW Air flights.
