Five-Year-Old Knife Attack Victim Recovering

The five-year-old girl who was stabbed in the chest in her home in Keflavík on Sunday is recovering. She is no longer in intensive care but will be hospitalized for the next seven to ten days at the children’s hospital in Reykjavík, Barnaspítali Hringsins.

“She is rapidly recovering and was allowed to get out of bed for a while today. She has been watching television and playing,” the girl’s father, Óskar Hardarson, told Morgunbladid last night. The family has been in crisis counsel.

The woman responsible for the attack confessed to the crime on Monday. She has been sentenced to one week in custody and made to undergo psychiatric evaluation. According to, the woman was not intoxicated at the time of the attack.
