Fish popular between Christmas and New Year’s

The sale of fish in fish stores Fiskisaga and Fylgifiskar has increased over the last few days. Fresh fish is hard to get this time of year and therefore it is expensive.

According to Morgunbladid, the sale of fish usually rises in the days between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve as people are tired of heavy meat dishes and have cravings for lighter meals.

Not many fishing ships operate at this time of year. Trawler Von GK 113 set out to sea yesterday, but as sailor Sigmar Eythórsson said, “pickings were slim and the weather was bad.”

Óskar Gardarsson, manager of fish store Fiskisaga, told Morgunbladid that his supplies had been good yesterday, but he was not sure about today.
