The first migration birds to arrive in Iceland this year have landed. These are 120 swans and three loons spotted in Nes near Höfn in Southeast Iceland last weekend.
Yesterday morning, inhabitants in Höfn heard the sounds of oystercatchers, which had also arrived from their winter habitats, ruv.is reports.
Robins, grey herons and curlews were also sighted in the region by the Bird Observatory of Southeast Iceland, which celebrated its tenth anniversary on Saturday.
Höfn and the southeastern corner of Iceland is where migration birds first arrive and therefore the region is popular for bird watching.
