First Icelandic Restaurant Gets Eco-Label

The restaurant Nauthóll by Nauthólsvík in Reykjavík became the first restaurant in Iceland to be certified with the Swan, the Nordic eco-label, by Minister for the Environment Svandís Svavarsdóttir on Tuesday.

The certification takes energy usage, separation of waste, environmental qualities and the healthiness of raw materials into consideration, among other aspects, Fréttablaðið reports.

Nauthóll is the 22nd company to receive the Swan label in Iceland. Many of the business that have fulfilled the strict requirements operate within the tourism industry.
