First Icelander Wins Golden Globe

Composer Jóhann Jóhannsson became the first Icelander to win a Golden Globe award last night. Jóhann won the Best Original Score Award for his music in the film The Theory of Everything.

Six Golden Globe winning films in the last ten years have gone on to win an Oscar, ruv.is points out.

Singer-songwriter Björk is the only other Icelander to have been nominated for a Golden Globe. She was nominated for Best Actress and Best Original Song for the 2000 film Dancer in the Dark.

Jóhann is also up for a BAFTA award, as reported last week.
