First Compost Station Opens in Iceland

The first compost station in Iceland, located at Gránumóar near Saudárkrókur in northwest Iceland, was formally opened yesterday after two years of preparations.

According to ruv.is, the compost station’s representatives say it is a pioneering initiative in waste management in Iceland.

Construction work began in fall 2006 and experimental operations last summer.
