Some fire fighter assignments are more enjoyable than others. The Reykjavík area fire fighters posted pictures on their Facebook page today of an unusual rescue mission. A three-month-old kitten by the name of Kattvan the Terrible got trapped on a sill, under the soffit of the house where it lives, mbl.is reports. The curious Kattvan hat climbed to this height from a nearby window, but couldn’t get back. The kitten called for help by emitting a sorrowful meow.

In vain, Kattvan’s owner Hugi Þórðarson and his family attempted to lure the kitten back in through the window, once they saw where it was. “I regretted having to call the fire fighters,” Hugi admitted, “but they solved this very professionally. They saw it as any other emergency call. For that, we are very grateful.”
Hugi stated Kattvan was in a state of shock, needing a lot of tender, loving care.

The three children in the household are delighted to have retrieved Kattvan and have become great fans of fire fighters. Hugi brought the rescuers cakes as a sign of his gratitude.
While Kattvan the Terrible was meek and meowing during the rescue mission, his full name, reportedly, is Ivan the Terrible. Incidentally, he has a sister by the name of Catherine the Great.
