Finnish chef winner of Food and Fun

Finnish chef Kai Kalliio won the cooking competition of the sixth annual Food and Fun Festival on Saturday. The Festival ended in Reykjavík yesterday.

Kalliio competed against 11 other world renowned chefs for who could create the best three-course meal, using only Icelandic ingredients. Fréttabladid reports.

Kalliio used Icelandic lamb and lobster for his dishes and he served the dessert in a unique way, in a small chest with a motif from the Finnish cartoon Moomin.

Siggi Hall, an Icelandic chef who was one of the judges, said Kalliio’s food had simply stood out among other delicious dishes.

Kalliio, who began cooking at restaurants when he was only 14, is a chef at the Savoy restaurant in Helsinki.
